Graduated!

On Thursday I did indeed graduate to The Brace! The difference in my overall sense of wellbeing is profound. I, of course, immediately went and overdid it ๐Ÿ˜œ!

I spent 10-1/2 hours over the last two days at our regional flower and garden show. It was divine! I took lots of breaks, and attended a lecture and a half (sitting ๐Ÿ˜). My nurse manager (daughter ๐Ÿ˜) came with me today, and drove too! I took my mamaโ€™s cane today, which helped overall. The fallout of walking the show is very grump legs. Not my ankle so much, but the act of walking on concrete for that much time after not walking much at all for 7.5 weeks is tired, little used muscles. It was worth it.

Amazingly, the only plant I came home with was a free native dogwood start, given out by one the biggest regional arborist. The plant I was lusting after wasnโ€™t available at the one (1!) outdoor nursery vendor present at the show. Houseplants are the rage these days, and I have 40 of them. I was tempted by a number of them, but resisted. ๐ŸŒฑ

The display gardens were intriguing and inspirational, particularly the fountains, big and small.

A visually simple fountain with a reservoir underneath where a pump recirculates water. I love this look and it requires constant replacing of the water due to splash. Weโ€™ve had a fountain in our garden similar to this in functionality that we ran a drip irrigation line into. Its splashing was too great for the irrigation line to overcome. Weโ€™re plotting on how to redeploy it.

The next week is free of calendar obligations. I am cleared for and will start my adaptive yoga (no right foot balance or ankle rotations for 6-weeks), and swimming. Iโ€™m going to take the portable gardening bench gift I was given a year+ ago into the garden and figure out how to best use it while catching up on oh so many tasks, but will not over exercise my footโ€ฆ Cause I want to keep on keeping on in the garden ๐Ÿ˜….
