March 2026 Island Trip – Day 1

We took a later boat than usual, which made our morning not quite as rushed. The cat, who is with us, was on to us fairly quickly, despite trying to be smooth and sneaky about putting items headed for the truck into the garage. Once he figured things out, he made the most pitiful/hysterical vocalizations and parked himself behind the downstairs couch.

The boat was late leaving as there was a ‘situation beyond their control…’ taking place. Suddenly the sheriff was on board escorting an attractive woman off. We had watched her walk past us saying to the fellow following her, “What, do you think you’re talking to a child?” I thought they were a couple. Evidently he was a ferry employee who, I assume, was trying to get her to exit the boat. Perhaps she walked on and didn’t pay? Don’t get to know. Then, the PA announced they were through with the ‘situation beyond their control,’ but had to wait for a tanker to pass before they could leave the dock 😅. We got here, finally!

Setting things up took some time as my DH had to do 90% of the leg work and heavy lifting due to my healing foot, and putting Stella back together from our anti-mouse protocol. No mice!!! 🐭

We’re cozy, and have a great dinner of leftovers waiting for us. It’s good to be here.
