5-Years

Today is the five year anniversary of my mom’s passing. It feels much longer ago, and so much more recent. Longer ago certainly because I/we lost who she was years before she passed. And more recent because time marches relentlessly. I am thankful to find myself increasingly thinking about her before she became ill.

A Bridge Away

I spent the whole day here, one bridge away from my home state. Our friend is working 12-hour days as the salmon fry are on the move. The maritime museum and it’s retired lighthouse ship were a fine distraction. The museum gets bigger each time I visit, and it’s being added on to! The quilt/yarn […]

Road Trip

I’ve had a good four days of road-tripping. It was great to have my quilting friend with me (Fri/Sat) and then her bestie join us (Sat). At the end of Saturday they peeled of inviting me to join them. I thanked them and retreated to my VRBO, which turned out to be so perfect that […]

April/May 2025 Island Trip – Day 9

It’s fair to say, barring emergencies, we have closing up down to a fine science, even with a cat in tow. The crewman who directed our parking on the boat this afternoon was our AN’s son. By the time we got out of the car he was done with that side/level of the ferry, and […]

April/May 2025 Island Trip – Day 8, & Happy Birthday Dad!!

We slayed all the things on the list today. Well, there’s an irrigation struggle in the big garden, but there’s a work around for the moment, and hand watering if the tenants really do actually plant anything! 😏 The irrigation at the house is 100% We got the rose support up on the drier shed, […]

April/May 2025 Island Trip – Day 7

Today was beautiful. Sunshine, 70º and breezy. It’s wonderful to have Stella open during the day, though we still run the little electric heater at night. We soon as we get the trailer ‘skirted’ she’ll hold temperature better. I kept working on my shophop itinerary in the morning, and made a run to town late […]

RIP AN

I found out today that our AN passed away on Easter Sunday. The disease he had offers no chance of hope, and it’s still hard when you get the news. It is a universal experience that knowing full well someone you care about is going to pass doesn’t lessen the pain when they do. I […]

April/May 2025 Island Trip – Day 5

It is confirmed that the washing machine works perfectly. 🙄 It’s last supposed transgression was twisting a load of sheets into knots when Mrs Tenant ran them through the washer. This precipitated Mr. Tenant telling me that he would be doing laundry at work going forward (nice to have that option). Today, during our test […]

April/May 2025 Island Trip – Day 4

Today was Much more sedate than the last three. I took the cat for a walk. He was actually amenable 😳. Chewing on grass featured big in his agenda. I discouraged this… And then he walked up a slope and addressed a fir tree. I also discouraged this 😏. He climbs a venerable fir at […]
