July 2024 Trip II – Day 2
Without belaboring the entire process, let’s just say I have irrigation success. There was a moment, or 45, of doubt when a couple of the important parts attached to the timer would not stop leaking. I consulted with my DH, went back to town (it’s not a plumbing project if you don’t go the hardware […]
July 2024 Trip II – Day 1
This quick trip is all about getting irrigation properly installed in my dad’s garden after the garden hose break/dry well debacle. Today went like this:
Soffits/Facia/Eaves!
The Island house got a facelift today! Our GC got the finish paint done on the soffits, facia, and eaves: In August I’ll get going on the body of the house.
Water
My tenants texted on Saturday morning to let me know they had almost no water pressure. After a lot of remote trouble shooting that including sending them on a mission to find running water, we discovered the pressure tank had no pressure. Pressure tanks do that sometimes. The well company, whose techs both have Covid, […]
My Mama Used to Say…
“You vote for the Democratic candidate, no matter how bad they’re limping,” or something pretty close to that. I confess that I am feeling far more hopeful now that Uncle Joe has stepped down. I would, obviously, have voted for him, supported his record as prez, his penchant for telling the truth, and have been […]
July 2024 Island Trip – Day 12

July 2024 Island Trip – Day 11
It was another hot day, and then cloud cover added mugginess to the atmosphere. After getting a final load of laundry going (it is a gift to get home and NOT have to do 3 loads of laundry!) I took the push lower and worked on excavating the little trees in the garden. I was […]
July 2024 Island Trip – Day 10
This morning I got the deck on the house sealed. It took about 2.5 hours and wiped me out. OK, my fault… It’s not that the work was difficult (6” roller on a long pole), but that it was exacting, the sun was strong, and I did not have enough fluids on board… Stupid, I […]
July 2024 Island Trip – Day 9
The big mowing is finished. I managed to get the grasses between the plum, and the apple closest to Stella slayed. It was 3-5 feet tall and was a very slow process so at not to upset the mower. This would have been done some time ago except for: Rain! I left the darker green […]
