November 2023 Island Trip – Days 4 & 5

Day 4: The locksmith came up with a clever solution. There will be one master key to the property. And the keys that the tenants have will allow access only to the pump room and house. How this is accomplished is a mystery that I do not need to know. I will only have to […]

November 2023 Island Trip – Day 3

Lots of garden/property care today. The line trimming was necessary in order to spread the pile of mulch (yet to be done). I managed to make my way through the south perennial bed, around the rockery of both perennial beds, the raised beds across the road from the house, the out buildings, and had just […]

November 2023 Island Trip – Day 2

Before I got up, I had an invite to dinner from our neighbor to the east! We’re going soup and salad. I spent the morning doing very little toward getting goals complete or crossing things off of lists. I read and embroidered. After some lunch I got rolling and by the 4 felt pretty good […]

November 2023 Island Trip – Day 1

This trip’s purpose is to see the current tenants off the property. Today’s goal was a the ‘pre-walk through.’ The meeting went optimally. I am sure it’s because a friend accompanied me. The tenant who, has gone sideways, had the slightest shadow cross his face when my friend came in with me, and then was […]

So Much for Years!

The current tenants are leaving. Below I’ll post a letter I won’t send to them, because burning bridges when dealing with someone who trends towards narcissistic behavior is futile. There’s no teaching or mending to be done. They never actually were my friends (yeah, my bad for crossing that presumed boundary), but were likely setting […]

Pillow Cases

After making a second duvet for Stella’s guest bed, there was enough fabric left over to make two pillow cases. These are any pillow cases! These have what are called French seams, which means there are no raw edges visible when they’re finished. No serger involved!

Embroidery Thread

I had to throw away my mother’s embroidery thread after letting it sit for a some time in hopes that it would lose it’s smokey smell. It never did, and I decided I both was not going to handwash the thread in hopes of negating the oder, nor be sentimental about it. Mom enjoyed embroidering […]

2001 Check Register

My mom was a word smith. She was not a numbers gal, and wasn’t afraid to admit it. I heard her cheerfully say, more than once, “I can’t keep a check register. I add one column and subtract the next!” I’ve been doing a forensic dive into my parent’s finances. I’m not being crazy about […]

Sept/Oct 2023 Pics

Pictures seem to be working again! I was able to clear the drive. The video showing the ‘miraculous’ transformation 😂 won’t upload.

Sept/Oct 2023 Island Trip – Day 14 (a little late)

As always (may is ever remain so) we managed to gather, clean, close, winterize, lock up, turn off, and head to ferry with little excitement. We texted my DH newly texting aunt, hoping to meet the elders for lunch, but didn’t hear back. They still had two full days on the Island, and indeed had […]
