June 2025 Island Trip – Day 6
Laundry featured big today. Three hoses have to be connected from the well’s pressure tank to the ‘lil washer to make this happen. Make sure each connection is Tight, and then, dang there is nothing better to end up with clean clothes to hang on the line when we’re here. 99% of the push mowing […]
June 2025 Island Trip – Day 5
After a late night, I slept in until 9 this morning. By just after 10 I had the push mower going and slogged through most of what I needed to use it for. By the time I rounded back to edge’s of Stella’s slope, (after dealing with all the out buildings, the house including its […]
June 2025 Island Trip – Day 3
The cat (barely) let us sleep until 8AM 🐈⬛. We enjoyed our Sunday farmer’s breakfast, after feeding the cat 😏, and then got to work on installing a new system for under our mattress. This is a travel trailer/RV thing where a mattress sits directly on a platform in a coach where condensation is always […]
June 2025 Island Trip – Day 2
It poured this morning. Umbrella weather. I sat on the couch enjoying tea and watched/listened to the rain. An Airstream is a great experience in the rain. Glad I mowed what I did yesterday. I took the tenant a cutting/ironing mat that I no longer need that she can use when she takes her sewing […]
June 2025 Island Trip – Day 1
Yeah, OK it’s May 30th, and I’m gonna flake out on the double month title nonsense this trip 😏. I left our Mainland home early enough to stop at the fabric store in the ferry terminal town for 20-minutes. They must be under new management as all the bolt of fabrics are visible rather than […]
Gearing Up
We’re heading to the Island Fri/Sat. My DH’s work intensity needs him to not travel on a weekday. There are benefits and bummers to this. A benefit is splitting the departure (both ends) tasks. A bummer is paying for/taking two cars onto the Island, tho that frequently proves to be a benefit, as does the […]
5-Years
Today is the five year anniversary of my mom’s passing. It feels much longer ago, and so much more recent. Longer ago certainly because I/we lost who she was years before she passed. And more recent because time marches relentlessly. I am thankful to find myself increasingly thinking about her before she became ill.
A Bridge Away
I spent the whole day here, one bridge away from my home state. Our friend is working 12-hour days as the salmon fry are on the move. The maritime museum and it’s retired lighthouse ship were a fine distraction. The museum gets bigger each time I visit, and it’s being added on to! The quilt/yarn […]
Road Trip
I’ve had a good four days of road-tripping. It was great to have my quilting friend with me (Fri/Sat) and then her bestie join us (Sat). At the end of Saturday they peeled of inviting me to join them. I thanked them and retreated to my VRBO, which turned out to be so perfect that […]
