Mom’s Flowers
Mom has a fine touch growing what most of us call Christmas cactus. Her versions of these plants bloom right now. For the last four years, each June she calls me, over and over, to tell me her cacti haven’t bloomed like this in years, or ever. I realize she just doesn’t remember how well they bloomed the previous year. And really, in what fills up one’s year, why is it important to remember just how well your cactus bloomed?
So far, it’s been good to be here, to clean and de-clutter with fresh eyes… Seeing the cactus in all their glory made me sad that mom doesn’t get to see them this year. Hopefully next year, they will relocate and be with her.
