June 13 – 16, Island Compulsiveness
While here I have:
- Never gotten to bed before 11, usually not before 1am.
- Vacuumed the house, twice.
- Weed whacked for hours.
- Watered plants, twice.
- Washed all the curtains in the house. The smoke stains remain, but they no longer smell.
- Edited mom’s vast magazine collection, ruthlessly.
- Started working on my dad’s dark room office.
- Cleaned the shed. A monumental task which created,
- 200 pounds of garbage to go along with,
- 40 pounds of recycling.
- Went to the dump.
- The truck has approximately 50 pounds of toxic wastes in its bed, which I will drop of on the mainland.
- Took donation items to a local charity, twice.
- Swept rat poop out of the trailer and one of the barns.
- Then set rat traps.
- Ace Hardware provided, for a price, the following, which I deployed:
- Two brooms.
- A Webster, which is now filthy.
- Electric timers for lamps.
- LED bulbs for said lamps.
- Heavy duty de-greaser. This because I looked at the top of the kitchen cabinets. They are black. Will address this on my next trip, but no wonder the place smells.
- Laundry detergent.
- Pledge.
- Batteries.
- Rat traps…
- Took myself out to lunch.
- Visited with 8 wonderful people.
I leave tomorrow morning, and am bringing back:
- Mom’s Bose and CDs.
- Mom’s spring clothes.
- Mom’s jewelry and archery medals.
- A ceramic piece that’s more valuable than a house in certain parts of the country.
- My dad’s ashes.
