As I shared in a previous post, I’ve been teaching very part-time for ElderGrow.org. I was invited to apply as their Grant Program Administrator in our state, a full-time position. After talking with Eldergrow’s VP of Operations about the position, and reading the job description, which could have been written for me, I applied. Long story short, they invited me to accept the position, and I did!
The grant places 45 Eldergrow gardens in 32 non-profit skilled nursing communities across our state. I have a lot of work ahead of me!! I drank from the proverbial firehose for two days before we went camping. I start in on Tuesday. We roll out our first garden Tuesday, and the next two on Thursday. 7 to 12 more gardens in September… I’m thrilled and humbled all at once. The team is amazing, supportive, and are holding my hand as I stride into the surf with my board.
The first 5-months will involve a fair amount of travel. After all the gardens are rolled out, I’ll have quarterly rolling travel, will work from home about 75% of the time, and from the office 1 to 2 days a week.
This feels doable now that mom is stable, relaxed, and calm. The Island property is smooth as silk, and I have contractor references for the mainland property, and our place!
