An Example of Family Secrecy

My cousin wrote to me today. The one who doesn’t get along at all well with his dad. He let me know his dad confessed to his brother, only two weeks ago, that he does indeed have leukemia, and not anemia. The entire time this has been going on I’ve been saying, “This sure sounds line leukemia to me…” I was assured it was not.

How does someone hide the true nature of their illness from their family? He not only didn’t tell his sons, but he Didn’t Tell His Wife! “So not to worry her, you know.” Dude has been having transfusions twice a week for a long time, and not only did he keep this to himself, she never questioned the severity and frequency of the treatments. I’m starting to understand what my cousin is talking about. My mind is absolutely blown.
