Back and Forth

As shared, I spent 6-nights on the Island, one night on the Mainland, then 5-nights at the beach. Now I’m back at our mainland property for 6-nights, and then back to the Island for as many as 6-nights. Returning here for the Renaissance Faire and 5-nights, then back to the Island for a week and the estate sale. Can I just cry now?

My fast turn-around is due to the continued water heater mystery that is most likely caused by reduced water pressure at the house. We, collectively, have come up with our next actions… I met with one of my tenants today, they were in town, for tea, and they had a fairly brilliant idea of using vinegar to try and clear the sediment out of the water supply pipe to the house. We each left with our assignments:

  • I researched if vinegar is safe for copper and PVC pipes, and PVC pipe glue. It is.
  • I went through my folks house file looking for anything regarding running the PVC pipe from the house to the barn. I think I found the pipe purchase, but nothing about trenching for the pipe install, which dad wouldn’t have done himself.
  • My tenant is going to reattached the aerator to the kitchen sink, catch a sample of sediment, and see if it dissolves in vinegar. If it does,
  • I’ll check in with our AN about our idea and get a ‘sign-off’ before proceeding with operation Pipe Clean.

We’ll still have to dig up the pipe to install a filter at the house, but if we can clean out the pipe with vinegar rather than blowing water through it, well, I think it’s a way better way to proceed… Keep in mind there are no available plumbers on the Island. The one reference I got doesn’t return calls. So, if y’all know of a plumber who wants to live in paradise with unlimited work opportunity, let me know. I can guarantee a lively business opportunity.
