July 2025 Island Trip – Day 3

I got up on time (!), and made a lamb stew in the crockpot. A trip to town yielded a few things including some Malbec for the stew. I ran into neighbors at the grocery and had a great chat. This is one of the things I love about the Island. Taking a pause for 20-minutes and catching up is part of life. 💜 Then Tim called and I met him, Al and Chuck at the coffee shop for tea, a sit, and hysterical conversation overlooking the ferry landing. Again, a lovely part of life here.

Once back here I fussed at the stew a little: Added some of the Malbec, a rutabaga, fresh ginger chunks and some tomato paste. Then changed into mowing attire and gave myself 2-hours… The only mowing left is the field to the east of the house, and I’ve taken a few laps around it already. The place looks amazing 🥰, and we’re getting to the point in the season where the grass is slowing down in most areas. I’m going to skip the push mower and weed whacking this time, both because of time constraints, and because I over did it last week and my back had a LOT to say about my over-enthusiastic expectations of what I should do in 48-hours… I love that we never stop learning!!

I trotted out the Temu rug that Tim bought us for Stella’s ‘patio,’ as he was my lamb stew victim! The rug does add a nice touch. We had wide ranging conversation over dinner, always learning something from each other. Tim is a story teller, and all of them are interesting or make a point. And dinner was delicious. It’s always good to see him eat a lot…

Tomorrow is very doable, if I stick only to my list of goals 😂!
