6-Sleeps!

You know how it helps really young kids to understand the concept of ‘how long,’ or ‘how many days until’ an exciting event is going to take place? A birthday, vacation, or a holiday??? You tell them how many ‘sleeps’ they have until the event. ‘Only 5 sleeps until your birthday!’ A child can really wrap their head around this, and it becomes a great teaching moment if you have a calendar with you during this conversation. How I wish I had these words when my children were babes! So, I have 6-sleeps until I can walk!!! 😜 My entire calendar is evolving around my impending mobility. Like, our regional garden show takes place later this month… I get liberated to a brace on the Thursday of the show. This means I’ll go Friday and Saturday. I Never go on the weekend. Well this year I will if it means not walking the show floor in the boot!!! I have calendared to hit the fabric store the day after I’m allowed to walk. No, I don’t need fabric, but one of my Christmas presents was a generous gift certificate to this fantastic fabric emporium 😁. I am also looking forward to getting back into the pool… My surgeon thinks I can swim a gentler stroke and not upset my shoulder… I will listen to the doc who tells me what I want to hear 😂. And yoga, as soon as I can drive. So, next week. I will feel like a wimp in my adaptive yoga class, but the left side of my body, after scootering for 3.5 weeks, really needs this.

In other news… I got my part of the current group quilt project done, and my friend picked it up this morning on her way to the train. She’s headed south to hang with the third person in our quilt clatch. They have known each other since grade school and are in their 70’s. That’s an incredible friendship. I don’t know anyone from 3rd grade anymore. I have friends from that long ago, but they were’t from school

My part of this is from the broad light green vertical fabric to the right. I’m happy with how it turned out.

I’ve been crocheting…

This is the softest cotton yarn I’ve ever held in my hand.

I’m also looking forward to doing some gentle garden cleanup. I’ll rake up the detritus, and my DH and collect it into the green bin! And the chickens are laying again 🐔! And, I’m going to make granola tomorrow… That’s probably the best litmus for how things are going at this point post-op 😏. Yeah, my DH will have to take it out of the oven for me, but I can do the rest all by myself (says the petulant child in me 😅).
