April 2026 Island Trip – Day 7
It felt a little chaotic pulling out of the property today. Maybe because I was there by myself. Maybe because I’m 13-weeks out from significant ankle surgery and clearly the recovery is more than I anticipated. Maybe because I set some artificial goals for myself… that I was able to let go of!! That being wanting to bring home two pieces of furniture: One, a gate-legged table for my DH to set up in his ‘train room’ so he and our grandson can build layouts when our grandson is visiting (this table was my first husband’s American grandmother’s. My grandfather refinished it for us decades ago, and I’ve been toting it around for almost 30-years). Two, the desk my mom’s father built. Living in the lower barn is not doing it any favors. I managed to get the gate-legged table into the truck, and had to leave the desk behind. I need another person to help me get the desk into the truck carefully, without damaging it. It’s over 70-years old and I want to preserve it.
The ferry ride was enhanced by the beautiful day and a puzzle, and the drive was uneventful, as all drives should be. Other than unpacking the truck, I’ve done very little since getting home. My DH is putting together some dinner, and having not eaten for 8-hours, I am going to turn my attention to that!!
