Rhubarb…
I got my mama’s rhubarb planted and watered today. It looks really sad 😢. Only time and some steer manure will tell.
I also dug a bunch of invasive sweet woodruff up. I can’t believe that this stuff is sold in nurseries. 🙄 Other gardening enjoyment was to keep removing dead bits out of the forsythia, trim back some dead pieces of vine (akebia quinata) where it got whacked last week as our neighbors had a row of fruit trees removed from the other side of the fence, and picked a small bouquet of blue bells.
I’m kinda worried about the fruit tree removal. I remember when they put them in: figs and plums. The trees were very successful. About 6-weeks ago they had their big-leaf maples (a native tree that can easy grow to 80’) cut back to 25ish feet. This will accomplish one of two things: Kill the trees, or cause them to sprout out EVERYWHERE. I, someone with horticultural experience and education, cannot fathom why they made this choice… Unless they’re getting ready to sell the house and are doing things that either they or a real estate broker think they need to do before placing the house on the market. Because, you know, people are uninformed… Don’t get me wrong, I am very fond of our neighbors. They are kind, respectful, and safe. We like each other. And in 26+ years of living next door to each other this is unusual behavior.
To punish my already grumpy shoulder and foot, I pressure washed today!! I relish it because it’s a form of control 😏. My current focus is our dining room deck. I’m not quite half done if you don’t include the roof above my office… No, I’m not going to parse that for you 😂.
Looking forward to getting back to yoga tomorrow 🙆🏻♀️
