June 2026 Island Trip – Day 4
Today was the first day of the Island Artists’ Open Studio Tour. Our neighbor to the east wanted to join us, then wanted to start at noon, and then needed to bail. She’s in deep mourning for her sister and found that she just wasn’t engaged, so we dropped her back off. All this meant that we didn’t cover as much of the tour as I’d hoped. S’ok. We saw some lovely things and my DH bought a gorgeous ceramic bowl. There are only a couple of studios I really, really want to get to tomorrow. Yeah, I’d like to see them all, but if I get to see these two, I’ll be happy.
We had dinner at Tim’s. Another friend of his and my folks was there too. I cooked halibut using a recipe Tim taught me a few years ago. It involves anchovies and is wonderful. I was struck again at how ‘tottery’ Tim has become. It used to be that he’d try and scoot you out of the kitchen if he realized you were doing the dishes. That didn’t happen this evening.
