July 2026 Island Trip – Day 4

The mowing is officially done for this trip, including cutting what is now the croquet pitch in Stella’s meadow a lot shorter so the balls don’t get bogged down in the grass. I even used the blower to move the drifts of trimmings off the ‘pitch.’

My DH got the irrigation at the house up and running after work. His temperament is much better suited to this than mine… Last trip the filter for the system failed, and I am just so done 🙄.

I worked on the slide show for my parent’s memorial gathering. In looking up, “How do I slow down the slide show?” I found out you can’t control the speed on a Mac. So, following the instructions for the iPad, I find that the speed of the slide show does run slower, but none of the instructions for controlling that speed are valid 🙄🙄. Nor are all the photos showing before they start repeating 🙄🙄🙄. I set the project down, happy to have found more pics of my dad (the photographer is always less memorialized in the photographic record).

I spent time trimming up the rug in the front of Stella where I removed it via a mat and carpet knife. Tomorrow I’ll touch up the edges of yesterday’s carpet conquest. I also took a dive into the install instruction for the new flooring 😁. My buddy who was supposed to be available all week to jump start this project, isn’t. Sigh.

A rain squall passed through this evening, and an incredible rainbow followed. As mom and I used to say, “We live in God’s country.”
