July 2026 Island Trip – Day 6
I spent hours in the lower barn today getting real about things. This was brought about as I cleared and cleaned surfaces. I posted a number of items on the Island’s ‘Buy Nothing’ board. No nibbles yet, and I’m determined, should no one need/want the items I posted, to move them along via other means. A LOT of saw and sheetrock dust was left after the repairs in this building earlier this year. Some of today’s endeavors included simply cleaning/dusting items that happened to be in the way of progress 😏. I spent a lot of time over my dad’s darkroom sink. This felt really good. I also placed cool and sentimental things on the shelf above the (11’) sink.

The lower barn’s main space is down right respectable, and will be more so when we can reinstall Stella’s couch, now in the lower barn. And to that end, I’m going to place the flooring task in our contractor’s queue as our pal isn’t able to help us with the task. S’ok! He works for our contractor!! I’ll let our friend know this is my thought.
I finished finessing pulling carpet out from under the edges of the cabinets/bed/walls of Stella. This in order to get the new flooring installed, whose details I will not bog you down with 🙃. We have one carpeted chase to remove from the bedroom in order to call the job done. It runs up the outside wall of the coach about 15” and along the entire, such as it is, length of the bedroom. This is to hide electrical wires 🙄. It could have been a 3×3” chase… But Airstream, in 1999, thought it would be cool to make a statement up the wall out of light green carpeting!! 🤣🤣🤣 I’m gonna peel off the carpet, sand off the adhesive, paint the nice quality plywood (color TBD) and reinstall after the new flooring is installed.
We played a very enjoyable round of croquet this evening.
The cat made an escape this evening! He zipped out Stella’s door, much to our surprise. He’s never been exit seeking until this trip. I joined him on his walk-about. My DH joined us with the cat’s leash. The cat headed to my dad’s old boat. I scooped the cat up and placed him on the boat. He was into exploring. We were trying to be chill… My DH was able to clip the leash on the cat’s harness. We took him into the lower barn. He was not a fan!! When we left the building, he galloped toward the trailer to the point where he was hopping on his hind feet because we weren’t fast enough.
