How Was Your Day?

A friend asked me yesterday…

A little anxiety riddled. Our friend said he’d help me finish my dad’s ceramic pieces and indeed has had the pieces at his place for a number of years. Last night he told me what sort of wax to buy and where. The pottery supply doesn’t carry the brand, could only find references to the product in Spanish, and couldn’t really tell what it was. Our friend doesn’t answer his phone, doesn’t listen to voice mail before returning your call once he sees you’ve called etc. I’m supposed to spend Sunday prepping probably over 100 pieces and I don’t know what to buy 🙄. I do not deal with ambiguity. Not one little bit. So I grabbed a vintage piece of my father’s and one I finished previously and took off 30-miles to the south, to buy all the things… Kiln Wash, Wax Resist and wax that one forms into balls and sticks on the bottom of work to keep it from sticking to the kiln shelf during firing.

Our friend called me! What I wanted was wax resist. Anxiety comes down a notch. I said I’d drop it at his place on my way home. ‘Call me first! I may be running errands.’ I did, and got voice mail. 😏 He got home seconds after I arrived. We had a nice visit, before I headed north. We have known our friend for over 50-years. He’s always been a weird communicator. And I now know this legacy project will get underway and (please God) completed before the celebration of life. Whew.

All of this was soothed by our grandson being dropped of late afternoon. We dug copious amounts of purple potatoes, made a pizza, played backgammon and a game he brought. He assured me that his mama said he Had to take a bath when it was too late to do so. It’s so funny to have him try to stay up late 😂. AND we got him in bed, read to and sang him a song before 9! Miracle!

And today my DH and our grandson when to Costco after his swim lesson, which I was on deck for 🏊🏼. It was a great overnight with our boy.
