Pottery Day 2

I didn’t glaze yesterday. I cleaned the exterior of 8 out of 10 5-gallon buckets of glaze, relabeled them, stirred them with a huge auger on the end of a power drill and then poured/screeded them through a fine messed wire screen into another bucket, making sure to squeegee the buckets to get as much as possible through the screen. Then… Pour the glaze back into its original container, clean the screen, its bucket, the squeegee, the splashes of glaze, the auger… repeat, 8 times.

These glazes, stored outside, haven’t been used in 10-years. Fortunately glaze doesn’t go off, unless, as our friend said, you lose the label for it, which renders it useless 😏.

There was, again, lots of talking, hindering my productivity. And, again, I worked on being present with our friend. His sweetie stopped by, and it was sure good to see her! She is a ray of positivity wrapped up in bright blue eyes, the familiarity of someone who’s know you since before you knew yourself, and a sweet Alabama accent.

I hobbled home around 6PM. Our travel schedule won’t allow me to get back to our friend’s studio until the 22nd. Ima bring my secret weapon with me… My DH who, being a lapsed ceramic practitioner himself, can help me bang out the glazing!
