Home Again, Home Again,
Jiggity Jog. We left our campground before 10:45 this morning, and arrived home just before 6 this evening. Taking out an hour+ for lunch with our friend who joined us at the coast, and waiting for the ferry, plus the ferry ride (another hour+), the actual travel time was about the same as when we take the main highways. The route we took today is a lovely drive, verses the guaranteed traffic jams. The ferry tole for the truck and trailer is a little exciting, but worth it not to spend 60-minutes covering 18-miles 🙄.
The remainder of our visit was pleasant. By yesterday the census had diminished. It’s hard to say goodbye to folks when you haven’t seen them for a year or five, and won’t see them for at least another year, or five, or possibly ever again. Some folks are getting old. The up side to fewer people is it’s easier to have non-fractured conversations. 😏
My DH and I took a ‘boundary hike,’ on the camp property, hoping to walk all the old trails and roads. It was impossible! Trails and one of the roads have become impassable. We did walk down the beach to the slough. The bluffs above the beach have eroded, and there are a couple of trees leaning at astonishing angles from the land at the top of the bluff. This is what happens when you live on a sand bar.
We’re home for three nights before heading to the Island for a short trip. The cat is a basket case despite excellent care. One load of laundry is done, and the big freezer decided to make snow while we were gone (everything is still frozen solid) 🧐, so add defrosting a freezer to tomorrow’s busy day. And I want to plant beans. That’s all I’ve got! 🤣
