August 2026 Island Trip – Day 3

In the Island’s grand tradition, I posted my parent’s duo-obit today in both of the grocery stores public facing windows. On my way into town I had a moment thinking this would be really hard, like feeling it. And it was OK. The staff at each store were low key, handed me a roll of tape and a smile. This is the final ‘posting’ I’ll do about their obit and the planned gathering. It feels complete.

I made progress in adhesive removal, and have decided that the heat gun is the do all tool. There are only two surfaces remaining to remove the 27-year old adhesive from! Yes, a sanding will be required, but so manageable now.

My DH has made amazing inroads toward reinstalling the couch. It’s finicky work. I’m thrilled to see this! Working on setting up the side arms of the couch, and the storage underneath it.
