Kiln Loaded!
Our friend called last night to tell us that he, and a friend, had gotten dad’s big piece (yes, the one that had cracked) loaded into the kiln, and were loading the other pieces. A couple of nights ago he texted saying he thought we should fire the big piece despite the crack. I wrote back saying he was the boss, and if thought we should, then let’s do it! And also that we ought to load the kiln this weekend when my DH could help load the big piece. We heard nothing back… This is not unusual 😏.
I am SO thankful the loading has happened. It’s one step closer to firing. Again, I have no expectation of the firing being done in time to take pieces to the Island for the gathering, but that the project is moving forward is very rewarding.
I had hoped to have all this done in time to let my kids choose pieces first, then take the remainder to the gathering. I guess nothing changes except the finished pieces will be delivered to friends after the gathering… I have printed signage for the gathering, just in case, including a sheet for folks to leave their name and email address, if they’d like some of dad’s work. I am nothing if not an administrator. A compulsive administrator! 🙃
