September 2026 Island Trip – Day 2
The day started by volunteering with a group of gals who were dehydrating apples for the food bank. They, among other things, had the same KitchenAid gadget I do for slicing and coring apples. That was my station! By the time we were done, the kitchen smelled amazing as the apples started drying in the impressive commercial dehydrators. It felt good to be part of this process.
After a run through the market, I stopped in at Tim’s with a marinade for black cod ‘tips.’ Got the tips in the marinade, placed some while wine in the fridge, and caught up his dishes… 😏
Then home for lunch, a snooze, a sorting of all the signage for the gathering, and a visit with my neighbor to the east. Then back to Tim’s for dinner. The cod tips (the meat from under their jaw) were outstanding. And the company was too. Tim’s son and daughter-in-law are coming over for the gathering. I’m very touched.
