September 2026 Island Trip – Day 5

Today has been more prep for tomorrow and,

  • My neighbor to the east took me to her friend’s farm where her friend picked beautiful dahlias for us for tomorrow.
  • I finished the remainder of the shopping, including finding Meyer lemons and picking up the oysters!
  • The Kuku is prepped, which will save quite a lot of time tomorrow.
  • Our buddy called me to say he could be at the property in 30-minutes and help us reinstall Stella’s couch!!! I did not expect this today, and am over the moon 🌝 to have this piece of the project complete! The whole place is just calmer with the new upholstery, and it works so well with the flooring.
  • My DH and I turned his office trailer, Lady Jane Grey (LJG), into accommodations for his daughter and her friend! This is where I learned that spending $15 on gadgets that are purported to cinch up oversized bedsheets to fit non-standard sized mattresses are not going to keep me from wanting to tailor those sheets 😏. My daughter arrived in the middle of making beds, helped us finish the job, and then we relaxed until…
  • It was time to meet the girls in town for dinner at our very fav place where Chloe has been before.
  • My daughter is staying in town. Chloe and her friend are tucked into LJG. We’ve enjoyed a couple games of backgammon, and now it’s time to hit the hay. Tomorrow is going to be a big day.
The elephant in the room is the sweet rug that Tim bought for us on Temu. I’ll find something quieter and repurpose the rug. And, after months and months of no couch, I’m not complaining or fussing about the composition, just planning on improving it!
