September 2026 Island Trip – Day 7
We slept in, and slept really well! In nights leading up to Saturday neither of us were sleeping well. My brain wouldn’t stop working on gathering details… Waking up 3ish was an exercise in ticking off things already on a list… Night brain 🙄.
After breakfast I met my daughter in town. We wandered the stores Christmas shopping. It was so good to have unscheduled time with her. We enjoyed a relaxed sushi lunch before the ferry line shuffle, and then hit a few more shops after she was parked in lane 2.
We said goodbye as the walk-on passengers started to board the ferry. I walked up to the sea salt shop to buy my DH more honey for his tea, and then headed up to the car, and then home.
We’ve had a relaxed afternoon/evening, without cooking 😏, and actually made enough inroads to some leftovers that we washed up a 9×13” pan!! Yes, this sounds dorky as hell, but it’s real life!!
We’re sorting out our social calendar for the rest of the week. Tim on Wednesday. Our buddy we met through our GC tomorrow, our neighbor to the east will get back to us… We were suppose to get together this evening. She called to say after three grand kid soccer games, the gathering for my folks, and additional social events, she was done for the weekend. Completely understandable, and we’ll find an evening to hang out before we head to the mainland. So, it’s shaping up to be a busy week in a pleasant way.
Another dorky thing we did this evening was to go through the ‘junk drawer’ in Stella. We exited a healthy batch of things that we don’t need in the coach anymore, and sorted, with the help of a few of my mom’s old Rubbermaid organizers, the remaining bits and pieces. This gave me disproportionate pleasure. Sometimes these things are all about control!
