October 2026 Island Trip – Day 3

Road work got off to a late start due to equipment communication snafus, and yet the west side of the west drive got mowed in order to find the ditch, a path was mowed in the upper east field so the dump truck could deposit soil/rock that’s being removed, and the berm was removed from the east part of the entrance drive. The piece of equipment doing the mowing has redefined my definition of ‘mower.’

The mower ate a swath off the west side of the west drive.

In and around equipment delivery I:

  • Made my way to the marine supply. They were very helpful and I have a piece of hose to work on the fridge with along with some tips and tricks.
  • Worked more on the gravel retention project.
  • Got the baseboard for Stella sanded and another coat of finish put on. One more round and it’ll be done.
  • Sanded (orbital sander) and put a first coat of primer on the ‘boxes’ that cover electrical wiring, route the forced air heat, and cover the side of the water heater in the bedroom.
Bedroom boxes…

With everything here and ready to roll, the crew expects to start between 8:30-9:00 tomorrow. I’ll do a repeat on my sand, finish and painting and then move onto some sewing projects designed to help retain heat in my DH’s office trailer now that we’ve arrived at that time of year.
