October 2026 Island Trip – Day 4

The driveway project continued by finishing scraping all soil and rock that needed to be removed from the areas being rebuilt. They created a new ditch down the west drive, which I didn’t understand would happen. I thought the existing, though overgrown, ditch would be used. It’s very impressive.

New ditch.

All of the s(p)oils 😂 have been trucked to the top of the NE field.

Future berm… Where the next generation of alders will take root 😏.

They dropped two trees for me. The chainsaw sounded like it had after-market pipes on it!

I got my painting, sanding, and finishing accomplished. I didn’t realize that I was using an oil based primer… It was unusual how fast it dried. When I went to drop the brush into water, nothing happened. That’s what clued me it. It was a can of primer our general contractor left behind. There’s no paint thinner here, and going to town again was not high on my list of optional activities. I found paint remover but knew it would destroy the glues that held the brush together, so I threw out the brush! Not like me At All, but it was the course of least resistance. I also got one prototype window cover together for my DH’s office trailer but have to wait until tomorrow afternoon before reinstalling the window frame as the adhesive I used for the earth magnets takes 24-hours to dry. If all goes well, I’ll go into production mode tomorrow afternoon.
