October 2026 Island Trip – Day 7
It was difficult to get motivated to replace part of one of Stella’s window gaskets. In part because getting the old adhesive off is a pain in the butt. But then it became clear the reason I don’t like this sort of chore is because of Scope Creep. You have to run to town to get the material, here’s always more gasket that needs replacing than you though, the window channels are in need of cleaning as are the screens and while you’re at it, the windows themselves! And it’s done. One few little ways to heat the outdoors 😏.
My road crew returned to carve a perfect 10’ circle close to Stella for the fire pit. They will add gravel at their convenience and we will build a little split-face block wall at the high side.

I got one more panel done for the office trailer. I rather like working in the lower barn. The big door was open letting afternoon light in. It’s going to make nice studio space.
I emailed my tenants the lease renewal. I also handed it to them in August along with the required notice of rent increase. The lease renews, maybe, in just under 6-weeks and I’ve not heard anything from them. She has indicated more than once that they’ll stay until I boot them out. But she says all sorts of things that are the meanderings of someone who is either trying to impress, is not very b-r-i-t-e, or isn’t all there… Sorry, but you can’t have the flu three times in two weeks. That’s not how your immune system works… Maybe you ate the same spoiled thing in your fridge three times in two weeks… My guess is that they’ll renew because she’s unable to pack…
I dabbled in the usual prep to get going tomorrow. Hauled out the heaters and dehumidifiers, set the heater in the pump room and a dozen more chores.
